How many times do you check Facebook per day? How about Twitter? According to a new report, Americans now spend more time on social media than any other major Internet activity—and that includes email.
Today, social media is more than just a way to stay connected with old friends (or keep an eye on the kids), it’s also a great way to find bargains.
This week, we perused some of the most popular social media apps and scored some great deals. Here’s our roundup and tips for making your favorite apps do double duty:
Instagram: Type #couponing in the search field and you’ll find hundreds of coupons posted by thrifty shoppers. You may need to pick up your Sunday paper to get some of the deals, but other postings could alert you to major bargains available immediately—like this end of season sale at Express, where many items are now 70% off and clearance items are an extra 40% off.
Facebook: Finding coupons on Facebook is as easy as “liking” retailers you regularly shop at. This week, The Children’s Place posted this promo code, which will help you save 15% off your purchase online or in store.
Twitter: Again, it’s all about connecting with retailers or eateries you frequent. For example, this week, Papa John’s tweeted the promo code HOMERUN, which will get you a free pizza on a future order when you place any order of $15 or more before June 29.
Pinterest: Pinterst is a great place to follow coupon clippers who will lead you to great deals. The Krazy Coupon Lady’s pinboard is a virtual how-to for anyone who’s new to the sport of couponing. For example, this week you’ll find instructions on how to get Starbucks K-Cups for just $3.99.
