FinovateSpring 2010

photoToday is a big day in my world – as we speak, I’m at the FinovateSpring 2010 conference in San Francisco.

Let me back up a bit, though. Finovate is a bi-yearly conference that allows people like me to showcase new innovations in banking or financial technology. I’m here today because I’ve spent the last year working on two new products to help you manage your debt and credit. I’m so excited to finally be able to share them with you.

The first is the JeanChatzky Score Builder, which I developed with conjunction with SmartCredit.com. Score Builder is all about credit scores, specifically, improving your credit score by taking you through each negative item one-by-one and making the fixes necessary to wipe them off the record, or minimize their impact. Through Score Builder, you can communicate directly with your creditors to fix inaccurate items, remove old records, and pay-off small debts. I’m there every step of the way, through videos and online commentary answering your questions. Read more about Score Builder here.

The second is a supplement to The Debt Diet, the program I launched last year to help you find $10 a day to pay down your debt (if you’re not already a member, you should be – find out all you need to know about The Debt Diet here). The new Pay it Down! application, powered by DebtGoal, shows you what to do once you have that $10 a day in hand. Together, we’ll develop a plan that will allow you to apply that extra cash to your debt in the most efficient way possible. Not only will you pay down your debt faster, but you’ll save money – in some cases a lot of money – on interest. Better still, the basic version of Pay it Down! is included with your membership in The Debt Diet. Everything you need to know can be found here.

I’ve spent years helping people manage their credit scores and get out of debt through my books, television appearances, and newspaper and magazine columns. Score Builder and The Debt Diet, with the Pay It Down! app, will help you implement this advice. Please feel free to comment on this post if you have any questions, or email me at jean@jeanchatzky.com. I’m really looking forward to your feedback.
